International students are increasingly choosing France as their study destination. However, study and living costs in France can be quite high. Although tuition fees at public universities are low at around €200-€600, private universities can charge as much as €10,000. Annual living costs are around €10,000. The French government offers a number of scholarships to international students.
Eiffel Excellence Scholarships
The Eiffel scholarship program was developed by France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help French higher education institutions recruit the best foreign students for master’s and PhD degree programs. A scholarship-holder on a master’s course receives €1,181 and a scholarship-holder on a PhD course receives €1,400. Additionally, the programme pays for return trips, health insurance, and cultural activities. Scholarship recipients may also receive additional accommodations. However, tuition is not covered by the programme.

École Normale Supérieure International Selection
ENS organizes an international selection every year that allows thirty of the most promising international students to study either science or humanities for two or three years at the ENS. They A monthly stipend of about 1,000 Euros will be provided for 2-3 years. Around 30 foreign students are awarded each year.
Ampere Scholarships of Excellence at ENS de Lyon
ENS de Lyon and its partners offer scholarships to excellent international students seeking admission to their Masters programmes in Exact Sciences, the Arts, and Human and Social Sciences (excluding Professional Masters in Teaching). Scholarships cover €1000/month for a period of 12 months and are renewable with certain conditions.
Emile Boutmy Scholarships at Sciences Po University
Sciences Po created the Emile Boutmy Scholarship in honor of the university’s founder to attract the best international students from countries outside of the European Union who have previously been admitted to Sciences Po. The scholarships can range from €5,000 to €10,000 for 2 years of postgraduate study, or €3,000 to €12,300 for 3 years of undergraduate study.
Université Paris-Saclay International Master’s Scholarships
Our Université Paris-Saclay member institutions would like to promote access to master’s (nationally-certified degree) programs to international students. Scholarships are worth €10,000 per year, and a maximum of €1,000 is also awarded for travel and visa expenses.
Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation Scholarships
For international students who wish to pursue an international master’s program at Grenoble INP, the Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation offers a scholarship program. The grant amounts to 5,000 euros per semester.
INSEAD Scholarships are limited in number and there is fierce competition for each one. Scholarships are awarded based on a variety of factors and fall into two major categories: need-based and non-need-based (based on nationality, gender, professional background, leadership abilities, field of previous studies, etc.). They can range from $5,000 to $25,000.
International students from a variety of countries and backgrounds have access to generous scholarships offered by HEC Paris. HEC scholarships can be merit-based, need-based, or based on specific criteria. Scholarship amounts range from €6,000 to €24,000.
